Very much in the vein of Art Blakey’s “Jazz Messengers” or Coltrane’s band on the legendary “Blue Train” album, BakerzMillion is Chicago’s hard bop ensemble par excellence. Its six members are a true dream team of talented and seasoned jazzmen. The band’s longevity, over fifteen years already, contributes to the solid and balanced sound of the ensemble. Playing original tunes composed by the co-leaders the ensemble brings a breeze of fresh air to these mainstream sonorities. BakerzMillion is an all-star jazz sextet in the tradition of the classic Blue Note groups of the 1960s. Featuring Andy Baker (trombone, tunes), Steve Million (piano, tunes), Eric Jacobson (trumpet), Jim Gailloreto (saxophones), Tim Davis (drums) and John Sims (bass), the band was formed in 2005 to perform new, original compositions by co-leaders Andy Baker and Steve Million.
