Please check out the photos from this very special night showcasing the amazing talent and diversity of Chicago’s Delmark Records blues artists – young and old, female and male, traditional Chicago blues and more contemporary funky blues rock and R&B!
Here’s a quote from our friend, blues photographer Jennifer Noble,
“Delmark Records had a Holiday Party at Buddy Guy’s Legends on Saturday night and we also celebrated Bob Stroger‘s 94th Birthday. The evening started out with Billy Flynn playing harmonica and guitar. Then there was Carlos Showers on guitar, Dave Specter also on guitar, Pooky Styx on drums (who was on fire), EG McDaniel on bass and Roosevelt Purifoy on keys. Delmark generously put their 70th Anniversary CD along with a jazz cd on every table which was nice. It was a full house with musicians coming on stage one after another to keep the music going. Even Buddy Guy talked and sang a bit while having 2 shots of his favorite cognac. I left at 12:30 and might have missed Demetria Taylor‘s performance. Thanks Julia and Elbio for putting together this great event.”
Legendary veteran Chicago bluesmen Bob Stroger (celebrating his 94th (!!) Birthday,) Jimmy Burns and Willie Buck were featured, and young rising star Jamiah Rogers, the future of Chicago blues, blew everyone away with his guitar pyrotechnics while strolling through the mesmerized Buddy Guy’s Legends crowd, and standout vocalist and entertainer supreme, Demetria Taylor, closed down this special celebratory night with her show-stopping performance. And the world famous Buddy Guy even sang a bit, sippin his cognac, and was smiling ear to ear, beaming with pride as his musician son (guitar star Greg Guy) and daughter (gorgeous vocalist Carlise Guy) show us that the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree with their blues talent!
