The Blueshift Big Band, will be performing Delmark 472: Barrett Deems’ Big Band How D’You Like It So Far? at Andy’s Jazz Club on May 24 and 25 (12:00–1:15 PM sets each day). This tribute is part of the celebration for the 50th anniversary of the Chisolm family’s ownership of Andy’s, where Barrett performed regularly with his big band.

50th Anniversary Celebration of Andy’s Jazz Club continues with the call back to our original roots… Jazz At Noon!

Today we celebrate the original first timeslot of live Jazz performances presented at Andy’s Jazz Club by paying tribute to the late great drummer Barrett Deems with this presentation of Jazz At Noon.  Our first ever Jazz performances started with presentations at the noon hour to devote fans looking for that midday escape.  Today we have drummer Joel Baer leading his Blueshift Big Band in presenting Barrett’s big band album “How D’You Like It So Far”.  A fitting title as we celebrate our 50th and have sights set on the next 50 to come.

Barret Deems performed & toured with Louis Armstrong All Stars in the 1950’s while also being billed as “World’s Fastest Drummer”.  Barrett was a regular performer at Andy’s presenting his craft and sass in various group sizes throughout the 70’s, 80’s & 90’s proving to be an integral building block for the venue’s success.
