Master percussionist and composer, Andrea Centazzo, will present a percussion clinic and solo performance at Delmark Records/Riverside Studio. During his artistic career that spans over 40 years, composer, conductor, percussionist multimedia artist and filmmaker Andrea Centazzo has given more than 2000 concerts and live performances in Europe and the United States, as well as appeared and performed on numerous radio and television broadcasts worldwide.
He has performed and recorded, co-leading, with some of the greatest avant-garde soloists and composers, including John Zorn, Derek Bailey, Steve Lacy, Don Cherry, Evan Parker, Lester Bowie, Tony Oxley, just to name few. In 2011, his Alma Mater, the University of Bologna (Italy) honored him by establishing the “Fondo e Archivio Andrea Centazzo” section of the University Library, where all his musical works are housed and made available to students, scholars and musicians. In 2012 he presented 24 concerts in N.Y. for the 35th anniversary of the Ictus label
Lately finding a new source of inspiration in Science and Technology Centazzo wrote and directed 2 worldwide acclaimed multimedia shows: EINSTEIN’S COSMIC MESSENGERS (with astrophysicist Michele Vallisneri inspired by the Gravitational Waves) and R-Evolution (inspired by the life and work of Charles Darwin).
For 20 years now, Centazzo has been working to create multi-media experiences, combining live music with video images, blending traditional instrumentation with the latest music digital technology.
