A native of Cincinnati, Francine was often encouraged to leave home and move to New York to be a part of the jazz scene there but she decided to stay home and raise her family. Delmark has been producing jazz albums for forty-five years but it took a very special singer, Francine “Song Bird” Griffin, to get Delmark to issue its very first jazz vocal album.
