When it comes to jazz singing Francine Griffin is the real deal. Who else could say they sang with Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Eric Dolphy, Art Blakey, Tadd Dameron, Sonny Stitt, Wynton Kelly, Roy Eldridge, Jimmy Heath, Horace Silver? A native of Cincinnati, Francine was often encouraged to leave home and move to New York to be a part of the jazz scene there but she decided to stay home and raise her family. Delmark has been producing jazz albums for forty-five years but it took a very special singer, Francine "Song Bird" Griffin, to get Delmark to issue its very first jazz vocal album. With Ed Petersen, Mike Smith, Willie Pickens, Art Hoyle, Hank Ford, Paul McKee and Brad Williams. We know you'll dig it!
